Natural gas is transported to final clients by pipeline or by ship for longer distances.
When configuring the natural gas value chain, a high-pressure pipeline connection close to the processing and marketing centres is the most important factor.
Close to the consumption centres, natural gas is marketed through a complex network of thousands of kilometres that cover the main consumption areas, namely industrial and residential customers.
Natural gas value chain
Transportation through pipelines, underground or underwater, is connected to a complex system of pipes and control systems that guarantee the safety of this activity.

Transporting natural gas by sea requires the gas to be cooled (-160º) so that it maintains its liquid state (liquefied natural gas) under a pressure slightly higher than the atmospheric pressure. At the destination terminals, gas is transformed again into the gas state to be injected into the distribution network.
