Refining
Galp Energia is the only refining company in Portugal. It has a refining complex with two refineries, located at Matosinhos and Sines, which have a joint refining capacity of 330,000 barrels of oil a day.
Sines refinery is the country's main supplier, accounting for 70 per cent of the country's refining capacity. It started operations in 1979 and currently has a distillation capacity of approximately 220,000 bbl/day. Its felicitous proximity to the sea and port location, both important features for crude procurement and product exports, have resulted in the Sines refinery growing to be one of the largest in the Iberian Peninsula.
The Matosinhos refinery started operating in 1969 and currently has an annual distillation capacity of approximately 110,000 bbl/day. It is a hydroskimming refinery (simple refinery) and the complex is composed of three plants: aromatics, base oils and lubricants.
Logistics
Galp Energia’s 65 per cent share makes the company the largest shareholder in Companhia Logística de Combustíveis, S.A. (CLC), the logistics company that owns the only multi-product pipeline in Portugal. CLC's pipeline is 147km long and has enough capacity to transport sequentially four million tonnes of oil products. CLC also has storage installations in Aveiras which have a total capacity of 250,000m³.
In addition, Galp Energia has a 75 per cent stake in Companhia Logística de Combustíveis da Madeira, S.A. (CLCM), which explores Madeira's storage deposit park, and a 60 per cent stake in Sigás, the propane storage unit at Sines.
Galp Energia's vast logistics system is integrated with relevant logistic operations in Spain, improving the reliability of product delivery and giving maximum flexibility in regard to sales and marketing
Marketing of oil products

Galp Energia is the market leader in the oil products in Portugal. In 2010, sales to direct clients, including the retail segment, the wholesale segment, LPG and others, reached 5.8 million tonnes.
In retail, Galp Energia has a market share of around 34 per cent, comprising a network of more than 800 service stations and approximately 240 convenience stores spread across the country.
In the LPG business, Galp Energia markets and sells the propane and butane gas produced at Sines and Matosinhos refineries, although the company also bolsters its offering through imports in order to cater fully for the market requirements.
Galp Energia supplies other sectors such as the aviation, marine and transportation sectors, as well as contractors, lubricant manufacturers and industry.
